Adult Education Programme to begin on January 21, 2013

The Adult Education Programme of the Ministry of Community Development will begin its 2013 series of courses on Monday January 21, 2013 at community facilities and schools in the eight districts across the country.

Persons wishing to participate in this year’s programme may register at the Community Development Office in their district. Registration will run from Monday January 14th to Friday January 18, 2013.

All classes commence during the week of Monday January 21, 2013 and will run for a period of nine months in courses including:

• Numeracy and Literacy
• Child Care Assistant
• Tailoring
• Care of the Elderly
• Computer Repairs
• Dress Making
• Beauty Culture
• Drapery Design & Linens
• Cake Decorating
• CXC Mathematics and
• Primary School Leaving Studies

The main objectives of the Adult Education Programme are:

• Raising national levels of literacy and numeracy through organized programmes

• The development of other basic skills

• Support and technical assistance to community groups who wish to develop and deliver their own programmes, but with the aim of making such groups self-reliant.
