Toyota T&T Ltd released the new Corolla at a media launch at its Barataria show room on Tuesday evening. The new Corolla's on-the-road price is between $189,000 and $211,000, sales representatives at the event confirmed.
Guests from mainstream to social media were told at the event that the car will "stand up to its Corolla name." This is the 11th generation of Corolla, that Toyota has manufactured, and the car was said to enjoy the highest re-sale value in its class.
With a downpayment of 20 per cent, aspiring Corolla owners could drive home with the new four-door sedan, and pay around $5218 per month for three years or as little as $3,346 for five years.
The downpayment can be as little as 10 per cent as long as Toyota's credit givers, Scotiabank and Republic Bank approve the creditworthiness of the aspiring Corolla owner.
Guests at the media launch were invited to test drive the vehicle in exchange for e-mail addresses and sales leads.
"With simplicity is how Toyota wins them," guest Keith Taylor said as he inspected the car with the Guardian. The cars are simple on the inside.
"Dramatic and fulfilling - outside and inside," said the literature handed out on the car. "With its dramatic styling, exhilarating performance and cutting-edge functionality, the next-generation Corolla DNA will exceed your high expectations. Its many attractions will send your spirits soaring.
The new car features a radio and CD player feeding 4 or 6 speakers to enjoy superb sound in every seat, Toyota said. The information display on the dashboard, or "on the dash" as the millennial sales representative put it, now includes more information.
Through a USB mini-jack, the car also enables a portable music player to be connected so that drivers can play mp3s or any other digital media.
The new Corolla has also improved on its air conditioning. The high efficiency system combines powerful performance with low energy consumption contributing to excellent fuel efficiency, Toyota said.
The back seats of the new Corolla can be folded down to create more trunk space. The car also features an overhead console, rear cup holders and a center console box (no longer called the ash tray.)
The car is a 1.6 liter vehicle with a capacity to roll 6000 revolutions per minute (rpm). It can use "super" gasoline for fuel and comes in automatic or manual.
