Messi walks off Japanese TV interview

After the prizegiving ceremony of the Club World Cup, Lionel Messi was subjected to a very strange interview and walked off the set of the Japanese tv station. A set was mounted just off the field where Barcelona played a friendly against Japan.

That was as far as Messi reached with the key to the Toyota he won for his sensational performance versus Santos in the Clubs World Cup finals.

Three journalists joked and commiserated in Japanese while Messi, with no translator present, stood there awkwardly with the key in his hand furtively glancing at them as they laughed and cross talked. One of them also tried to put a jacket on Messi which he refused.

The same journalist who tried to place a jacket on Messi then asked a question through a translator about life after football for Messi.

Messi responded only, "I don't know. That's still very far away. I am going to enjoy this now. I am very far from retirement."

He then turned around and left.

Messi scored two goals against Japan in the friendly.
